Spring is cleansing season. EVERYONE is “doing a cleanse”!

While I appreciate the idea of a cleanse, I’m not a fan of ultra-restrictive ways of eating…even for short periods of time.

I am, however, a fan of consciously cleaning up my diet every once in a while. It’s easy to go down the path of too much sugar, cheese, bread, caffeine, and any number of other foods that make us feel weighed down after a while.

So this week, I’ve rounded up a few “clean” spring recipes for you, featuring foods that have natural cleansing properties.

You can cleanse without restrictive eating + shake up your meal plan if you’re in a recipe rut.

Coconut Roasted Broccoli

My favorite (so far…) of my good friend Lora Krulak‘s veggie recipes. Coconut oil makes everything better.

Black Beans and Rice with Cilantro Pesto

This might be my new favorite way to eat black beans and rice. To make it “clean,” use brown rice instead of white and skip the cheese (or just use less). It’s just as good.

Snap Peas, Turnips, Mint, and Preserved Lemon

You can’t get spring-i-er than peas, turnips, mint, and lemon. Simple and elegant. Love it.

Cure-A-Cold Spring Chicken Soup

This spring version of chicken soup might be the best chicken soup I’ve ever had…cold or not. To make it “clean,” use brown rice noodles or just brown rice in place of egg noodles.

Happy Spring!
