I’m Type A.

I get flustered easily when things don’t go according to plan (i.e., a lot).

(If you know anything about Ayurvedic medicine, you won’t be surprised that my primary dosha is Pitta.)

I get especially freaked out when I don’t think I have enough time.

So I’ve been experimenting recently with acting AS IF I have enough time.

Even when I don’t.

I don’t rush. I don’t stress. I don’t worry. I don’t look at the clock.

I just do what I need to do and keep moving.

And you know what? Time expands.

(Seriously.)

Einstein said that time is relative. I’m totally with him on that. (He was concerned that I didn’t agree with him, I’m sure.)

When I don’t worry about how much time I have left – when I don’t rush – I always have enough time.

I relax. I focus. Stuff gets done.

I wondered: What if I apply the same “I have enough” principle to other parts of my life?

Money. Friends. Success. Stuff. Love.

What if I act AS IF I always have enough?

And you know what? It works with those things too.

I have a challenge for you – and for me, since creating a habit takes time:

For the next 30 days, pick ONE area in which you feel like you don’t have enough. Or in which you feel like YOU are not enough. (Don’t you hate feeling like you’re not enough?! It totally sucks. But you can change that too.)

When you find yourself thinking “I don’t have enough X.” or “I’m not X enough.”, replace that thought with “I have enough X.” or “I AM enough.”

It feels silly at first, like you’re playing a game. That’s okay. Keep at it.

Habits of thought – like habits of all kinds – take a while to lock in.

Your mind is more malleable than you think, though.

And when you convince your mind that you have enough, reality follows.

(Seriously.)

Let me know how it goes.
