I had a plan for what to post today, but my “muse” (or whatever) had other ideas.
It occurred to me – it being the first week of October – that you might be a few weeks into whatever fall “project” you decided to tackle in September. Eating better. Exercising more. Cleaning out your closet. Learning to cook. Running your first 5K. Or just finding that ever elusive balance.
Then it occurred to me that you might be a) kicking butt; b) stuck; or c) bouncing between those two things, since “walls” are an inevitable part of moving towards something new…and better.
So here’s a little inspiration to push you forward.
You’re scratching your head, right? Like “How on earth will acting without expectation help me move forward, Lara?!”.
I hear you – I’m a goals girl. I make plans. I help my clients make plans. I have expectations…all the time. I expect that taking action towards my goals every day will eventually get me to those goals. And, quite often, that’s the case.
But sometimes, moving forward without the weight of expectation on our shoulders – especially when we’re stuck – creates space for the unexpected. Letting go of our expectations helps us get unstuck just long enough to propel us towards our goals, sometimes goals we didn’t even realize we wanted to achieve.
When did you let go of your expectations and get what you wanted anyway? Or something even better? Share your story in the comments.
xoxo,
